About the role:

Are you ready to shape the future of technology and digital innovation for a renowned, purpose-driven organisation?

Bettys & Taylors Group is seeking a visionary Group Technology & Digital Director to play a vital leadership role in developing our organisation's capabilities, leading our strategic development in information and digital capability, driving resilience, efficiency, and security across the business.

This role will be part of our newly created Group Executive Team, accountable to the Co-CEO, which is responsible for the successful delivery of our Group goals. Other roles in that team are Bettys Managing Director, Taylors Managing Director, Group Finance Director and Group People Director.

The Group Executive Team (abbreviated to GET) is accountable for:

1 - Leadership of the day to day and near term running of the Group.

2 - Implementation and delivery of the Group strategies.

3 - Insight on how strategic plans are playing out in practice, influencing those closely connected with the development of strategies.

4 - Functional delivery.

The purpose of this role, alongside being an impactful member of the Group Executive Team as outlined above, is:

To lead the strategic development of the Group's Information and Digital capability, ensuring enablement of the Bettys & Taylors Group purpose, strategic priorities, and overall business objectives.

Successful delivery in this role would enable the Group to operate with resilience, efficiency, and security in its use of information and technology, while also driving digital innovation and e-commerce enablement to support customer experience, growth, and new value creation.

It would also see this leader working with others to shape organisational capabilities and skills for the future, particularly in the field of AI or other emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures secure, efficient technology and digital services across the Group.
  • Manages system maintenance and transformation to support all business functions.
  • Aligns digital capabilities with evolving business and customer needs.
  • Leads strategy across business, data, digital, and tech domains for scalability and integration.
  • Builds and ensures cyber resilience, risk assessment, and incident response across infrastructure and supply chains.
  • Ensures data integrity, compliance (e.g., GDPR), and enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Drives digital innovation in customer platforms and collaborate with commercial teams.
  • Engages with digital providers and innovation ecosystems to build external awareness and enhance capabilities.
  • Promotes innovation, learning, and succession within the Digital & Technology function.
  • Actively contributes to the Group Executive Team and strategic network to ensure strategic and operational cohesion.

About You - candidates should be:

  • A senior leader with a proven track record in IT and digital transformation, operational resilience, and e-commerce platforms.
  • Technically adept across IT, enterprise architecture, digital, and data ecosystems.
  • Experienced in leading large, cross-functional teams and driving innovation at Executive and Board level.
  • Skilled in cyber security strategy, customer engagement, and enabling digital revenue growth.
  • Emotionally intelligent, with outstanding communication skills and the ability to build strong partnerships internally and externally.
  • Able to influence skilfully at all levels, including Board and Co-CEO.
  • Able to engage with and manage diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Up-to-date with the latest digital trends and technologies, passionate about organisational resilience and growth.

This is a demanding, full-time role, based at our main site at Plumpton Park in Harrogate, HG2 7LD. We would be happy to discuss flexible working patterns, including hybrid working, and ideally this would include c.3 days per week on site at Plumpton Park.
